Volunteering in the Play Area

The play area is situated in the prison visits room. We have qualified play workers who supervise the sessions, but sometimes they can have many children who would benefit from having more experienced workers. The volunteers assist the play workers in setting up activities during the visits. This is a very ‘different’ environment to work in, so volunteers in this area need to be highly aware of the factors affecting these families, and an awareness of their needs. Confidentiality is paramount.
